A great weekend indeed at the NMM day at Golems studio!!!!

I decided to create a wip thread here so you can all post in the same place your NMM developments and results after Saturday.
this way i can give you all feedback on any issues at the same time and everybody can learn.
    So get your pics up!!
    Glad you all enjoyed yourselves!!!!

Shall i do a weekend next time?

Tommie: Thanks very much for the weekend, it was a great day.

MrDee: Wow, your photos really show what Tommie is meaning about 'Timing' about where I need to go with mine, thanks for posting them!

I haven't done too much yet, only got back down south last night, but have had a play with SENMM, trying to visualise the surface as 4 gems, the blue/grey as two gems back to back and the browns the same.

First time I've tried SENMM so very keen on comments, I think my timing still needs improvement and it's generally a bit rough. Do I need more contrast?

Mr mechanicus the SENMM is rather nice.
take the darker colours we used, a little stronger towards the upper parts of his his toe/foot.

Glad this all made sense to you all.
I'll get the pics we took on the day edited asap! the results were 15/15 success rating!!!!!
there was one person that went away with a fail, everybody's pics of their painting really showed in the photos!

    Thanks T! :)

I tried to improve the foot a little (didn't get around to doing much) and also went a bit made with the gem technique on a different mini...

Here are the result from the students that attended the NMM day.
I'm sure you will agree that regardless of individual painting skills every student produced incredibly good results!!!!

Well, I've had a bit of a fiddle with my NMM now, and started on the chest, so here's mine as it is right now:

There are some areas in the photo which look a lot less stark in real life, and my colours have come out a little more vibrant but I think that the pecs have come out pretty well - the second light source certainly helps break up the flat space. However, I did fall for the trick of painting the abs like gems rather than orbs... but they don't look too bad ;)

I certainly feel the concepts are coming together though - thanks :D

Abs to pecs yes! spot on.
matching rules where shapes and and match is the way to an over all more convincing feel

5th one down :) Dude is wearing a spikey helmet. That pic only shows the two flat plates and part of his lower left leg; his leg was painted and repainted several times as it's fekkin' hard to do NMM on a curved surface. My final act was to repaint the base colour again, so it's all waiting for me to pluck up courage to have another go.

EDIT: I added my name at the bottom of my pic

Interesting. That one caught my eye from the lot, because of the single transition on the bum plates and the broader colour shift on the leg. It is the closest to how I do/would approach it, so I approve!! :D
